One of the questions we get asked the most is: “What’s the best thing you’ve ever done or added to your RV?” After a few seconds of thought (we’ve added a lot) I always answer “Adding an Oxygenics Showerhead for sure.”

You’re probably thinking “A shower head? Really?” Absolutely, and here’s why:

RV Parks and campgrounds have notoriously inconsistent water pressure. We’ve had everything from 100+ PSI (always use a water pressure regulator) to just enough water pressure to fill our water tank so we have to take a shower using our RV’s water pump, and everything in between.

The Oxygenics Body Spa Shower Head uses a clever design that mixes water with air to turn even low water pressure into a nice, strong, shower. It also works great while using your RV’s water pump while boondocking.

The Oxygenics is guaranteed to never clog, as it uses internal materials that prevent hard water buildup. This is helpful as most RV showerheads clog up at the mention of hard water – or worse start spraying and dribbling water in 35 different directions.

The Oxygenics Body Spa Shower Head is one of the best and easiest upgrades you can make to your RV. We added our Body Spa after the cheap, factory-installed shower head clogged up after 4 months of use due to California hard water and it’s worked great ever since.

These units all include a wall mount so they’re easy to install in place of your factory shower head:

We both enjoy a hot and strong shower in the morning, and we prefer to use our RV’s shower (a lot of people use the RV park showers instead). As mentioned RV Park Water Pressure varies dramatically, and even supplementing the water pressure with the water pump didn’t give us the strength of flow we liked from the factory-installed shower head that came in our RV. In fact, our factory shower head was a dribbly horrible model that took forever to rinse the soap out of our hair (well, Kathy’s hair).

We knew there had to be something better, so we did a few quick searches and came across the Oxygenics Shower head. It was recommended on most of the RV forums, so we ordered one along with the wall mount (very important).

It’s a good thing we ordered the wall mount, as the Oxygenics did not fit in our ‘standard’ shower mount. Personally I was ok with this as I (Rich) am tall (6’4″) and the factory shower head was mounted too low for my liking anyway.

Oxygenics Body Spa Installation

It was a fairly simple job to remove the old mount, fill the holes with some white silicone, and then install the new mount. I did use silicone around the new screws as well – although the mount is well designed and seems unlikely to leak.

One of the nice things about the design of the Oxygenics is that it’s rather tall, so even though I raised the mount I didn’t need to raise it very far. The showerhead itself added an extra 6+ inches of height, which worked out great as I’m tall.

Another bonus is that the Oxygenics now includes a shutoff toggle. This is a must while boondocking as it allows you to take the famous ‘military shower’ where you rinse for 10 seconds, then turn the water off and get lathered up, then rinse off for 30 seconds. The toggle keeps the water warm so this is a painless experience.

How Well Does The Oxygenics Shower Head Work?

The Body Spa Shower Head works – and works incredibly well!

Don’t you hate it when you’re in a dribbly shower, and you don’t feel like you can rinse all the soap out of your hair no matter how hard you try?

The Oxygenics Body Spa is the exact opposite. It blasts out a consistent, steady, and powerful stream of water that rinses me from head to toe completely in a matter of seconds. It’s perfect for taking quick showers – which is perfect for an RV!

The way the shower head adds oxygen to the water flow to increase the feel of pressure is ingenious – and even better is the fact that it never clogs. Our factory shower head had mini jets that clogged or directed the water in random directions almost instantly. Not so with the Oxygenics.

Pros:

  • Strong water flow, even with low PSI
  • Easy to Install
  • Sits taller than most shower heads
  • Includes shutoff toggle for boondocking
  • Removable wand design so you can wash and rinse all areas quickly in a small RV shower

Cons:

  • Only one spray setting – although it works great as-is

Summary

We’ve had our Oxygenics shower head for nearly 5 years now, and I’m still thrilled every time I take a shower. The strong water flow regardless of RV park PSI helps me feel awake and clean every morning – and you can’t put a price tag on that! 🙂

We recommend that everyone install this shower head in their RV. We think it would work well in your home (if you have one) too!
